Sunday Deep Thinking: It’s Okay to Choose Yourself First and Just Say NOPE.

Happy Sunday, my friends.

Some of you have known me for over a decade, and some of you literally have more of my jewelry pieces than I ever had in my own inventory. Even if you’re not buying anything right now, I still see you — checking in, supporting me, dropping sweet messages, and being part of my creative journey through all my reinventions and “money-raising shenanigans.” So today I just wanted to share a few Sunday thoughts with you and stay connected.

Sundays always bring this specific kind of thinking. Even when I’m busy cleaning, organizing, preparing for tomorrow, and working on orders, my brain starts roaming into deeper thoughts. And lately I realized I’m in a chapter of my life where I’m not concerned of how I look anymore. I have no desire to impress anyone. I really don’t care about people’s opinions the way I used to.

Most importantly, I realized the biggest chapter of my life started coming to fruition when I started recognizing the power of NO. Or better: the power of NOPE.

Saying nope isn’t rude. It’s protection. It’s clarity. It’s self respect. Saying nope can save your sanity, give you space to breathe, and protect your inner peace. Because so many of us are trained to take care of everybody first — dogs, cats, boyfriends, husbands, kids, family, friends — and somehow you end up last. Then you feel guilty just sitting down for five minutes and taking a deep breath. No babe. Not anymore.

So here’s your Sunday reminder: it’s okay to say no. It’s okay to choose yourself first. It’s okay to stand your ground. Before you say yes, make sure that yes benefits your peace, your sanity, and your quality time. Especially on weekends when you deserve the world to take a break on you.

Here are 10 things you can proudly say NOPE to:

  1. NOPE to nonsense hangouts that drain you.

  2. NOPE to listening to negative outbursts from anyone.

  3. NOPE to last-minute plans just because someone is bored.

  4. NOPE to partners or friends who forget to ask how you’re doing.

  5. NOPE to over-explaining yourself.

  6. NOPE to being everyone’s emotional trash can.

  7. NOPE to guilt invites.

  8. NOPE to doing more when you’re already tired.

  9. NOPE to feeling guilty for resting.

  10. NOPE to anything that steals your peace.

And here are 10 things you can do on your sacred Sunday instead:

  1. Meditate for five minutes (even if you don’t know how).

  2. Use the facial mask you bought six months ago and forgot about.

  3. Soak your feet in Epsom salt water.

  4. Stop giving a fuck and go hug a tree in front of everybody.

  5. Choose pajamas and comfort instead of stressing over outfits.

  6. Dance in your living room to your favorite cheesy song.

  7. Write a gratitude list or a love note to yourself.

  8. Drink coffee or tea in silence with no distractions.

  9. Doodle or create something with no goal other than fun.

  10. Do absolutely nothing. Rest is productive too.

If something overlaps your peace or gives you anxiety, just say nope. This isn’t about becoming cold or uncaring. This is about protecting yourself and honoring your energy. Your peace matters. Your time matters. You deserve weekends that feel like coming back home to yourself.

Thank you for reading, and comment below: what did you do today for yourself after embracing the power of NOPE?

Love, Galina.

Amen amen amen!!!!! I wish I would have practiced this sooner! Once I had my daughter at 30, things started to change for me. My perspective for certain things. I quickly started to realize how draining a and soul sucking people can be….especially family. Now that I’m 43, almost 44 I have 0 space for unwanted BS in my life. If it’s not my vibe I’m not going. If we can vibe together, you will not see me. I’m so focused on me right now. Saying NO more often and being more present with myself.

Life is truly too short to be trying to please everyone.
